A New Era for Racquet Sports Leadership Education
The University of Florida has redesigned its Director of Racquet Sports (DORS) Certificate Program to better serve the evolving needs of racquets professionals. With over 150 students enrolled and more than 70 graduates since its launch in 2021, the program now includes two updated core courses and one brand-new offering—all online, self-paced, and designed to meet professionals where they are. With no admissions requirements to get started, the DORS program is more accessible than ever before.
When the University of Florida first launched its Director of Racquet Sports (DORS) Certificate Program in 2021, the response was immediate and enthusiastic. Racquets professionals from across the industry signed up to gain the business, leadership, and strategic tools that many clubs and organizations were looking for—but few were formally teaching.
Since then, more than 150 students have participated in the program, with over 70 earning their certificates and advancing their careers in meaningful ways. Along the way, one thing became clear: not every learner starts from the same place, and a one-size-fits-all approach can unintentionally leave great talent behind.
In response, the DORS team has restructured the program to offer greater flexibility and access while maintaining the same rigorous, industry-driven content. Beginning in 2025, the original course has been refreshed and divided into two sequenced courses, with the addition of a new third course focused on personal brand development:
Course 1: Facilities, Operations, Marketing & More for the Era of Multiple Racquet Sports – Launching July 2025, this course focuses on the day-to-day business of racquets leadership, including programming, facility operations, and marketing. It’s open to all and serves as the first step in the DORS learning journey—no admissions requirements needed.
Course 2: Leadership, Management, Finance for the Racquets Leader – Launching September 2025, this advanced course builds on Course 1 with deeper dives into people leadership, communication, and financial strategy. Admission requires completion of Course 1 and five years of industry experience.
Personal Brand Management for the Racquets Industry – Launching late May 2025, this brand-new offering helps professionals polish their resumes, refine their interview skills, and present themselves confidently in today’s competitive job market. It includes an AI-powered interview simulator and 1:1 coaching session, and is open to all.
Another exciting change? The DORS program now features expanded faculty beyond Kim Bastable and Doug Cash, to includ, including respected industry leaders Len Simard and Ajay Pant, who bring real-world experience and career-shaping insight to the virtual classroom.
The heart of the program remains the same: equipping racquets professionals with the tools they need to lead with clarity, purpose, and professionalism. Now, it's more accessible, customizable, and future-focused than ever.
